Katrina Scott and Robin Montgomery – former USA Playoffs Lacoste and Les Petits As – Le Mondial Lacoste participants – were granted a wild-card for the 2020 US Open.

Currently, world #5 of the ITF Junior ranking, Montgomery was semifinalist of Les Petits As – USA Playoffs Lacoste in 2017 and reached the round of 16 of Les Petits As – Le Mondial Lacoste in 2018.

Last March, the 15 years old player won her first professional title at the ITF World Tour $25,000 event of Las Vegas.

She didn’t expect to win the trophy at all, saying that she « was just going there wanting to test the waters of the pro-level and see what she would have to do to compete at that level ». After this win, Robin reflected on this title as « a “stepping stone” toward her career goals. »

Last December, Montgomery also claimed the under-18 Orange Bowl trophy.

Concerning this wild-card for the US Open, her friend Coco Gauff explained: « She definitely deserved it. I’m wishing her the best. She’s a very big hitter. She has a great serve. She’s gonna do well and make some noise here ».

Katrina Scott – WTA world No. 637 – won the USA Playoffs Lacoste in 2017 before to reach the 2nd round at Tarbes in 2018.

In 2019, the 16 yo. player competed in the qualifications draw in New-York, defeating the world No. 234, Katie Swan. She ended the year with her first professional semifinal on the ITF World Tour event $25,000 of Malibu.

Just after the 2019 US Open, Robin and Katrina won the Junior Fed Cup together with Team USA. One year after, they play in the US Open’s main draw. Let’s wish both of them the best tournament possible!
